The original constitution of The Waratahs Rugby Union Football Club only allowed five Life Members at any one time. The status mainly remained until the football club became a Limited Company in February 1963 to allow more than five Life Members.

The five original Life Members - Cyril Burke* BEM (No.1), Ray Frost* (No.2), Richard (Pop) Dann* (No.3), Arthur Elvin* (No.4) and Ern Howarth* (No.5) - were inducted in 1955.
